Fresh off the Easel

Monthly newsletter

Hello, curious person. Have you ever stared at a painting and thought, “Is that a tree, or a man with broccoli hair?” If so, congratulations—you’re already qualified to receive Fresh from the Easel, a monthly newsletter containing drawings, mutterings and occasional accidental masterpieces.Allegedly!

Every month
(except those that I am tired and need a lie-dow, I am very old),

I’ll send a small note about whatever I’m working on.

In it, I talk about whatever’s on the easel right now:
what’s gone wrong, what I’m not sure about, and why I’m still doing it anyway.

Some editions feature drawings that never make it to a wall—

just the ones that sit quietly in the corner, looking thoughtful.

Others offer glimpses of things in progress, still half-formed and asking questions.

No pressure. No algorithm. Just a short letter from one person who draws,

to another who understands.

There is no rhyme or reason.
Except when there is. And even then, when it doesn’t rhyme.
Painting is solitary and its nice to share with someone.

Sign up here before someone sensible talks you out of it:
